Good Eats in Macon GA
At The Lamar, we pride ourselves on providing a close-knit community feel. Our residents enjoy walking outside the front door and being a stone's throw away from Macon GA's best restaurants.
Here are a couple of our favorite restaurants in Downtown Macon that we visit often ::
5) Bearfoot Tavern
We were ecstatic when we heard Bearfoot Tavern was moving to a new Downtown Macon location on Second Street, just steps from The Lamar. This European and American Gastropub is perfect for watching a game, grabbing a drink after work, or enjoying a summertime pint on the outdoor Beer Garden patio. Try a delicious Presidential Burger like "The Billington" topped with bacon, cheddar cheese and a fried egg. It's mouthwatering. Huge draft beer selection with over 50 beers on tap, brick oven pizzas, and a delicious brunch on Saturday and Sunday with bottomless mimosas.
4) El Camino
Hands down, best spot in Macon, GA for Taco Tuesday. And Wednesday. And Thursday. Honestly, we could eat tacos everyday. El Camino in Macon is a delicious restaurant to get your south-of-the-border fix. Located next door to Macon's Cox Capitol Theatre, our residents will often grab tacos and enjoy a show, on any given night, just steps from their apartment. What's better than that?!
3) Tic Toc Room
The Tic Toc Room is our favorite place to go when we're looking for a fine dining restaurant experience in Downtown Macon. If you're tasked with finding that perfect "date spot" in Macon, look no further than the Tic Toc Room. Little Richard, Otis Redding, James Brown, Chuck Lidell and Johnny Jenkins all use to hang out here and perform back in the day. Now, that's cool. Order a delicious steak, or our personal favorite, Squid Ink Linguine. 100! Wash it all down with a signature cocktail from their award-winning Martini menu and you've had yourself a nice little night out in Downtown Macon!
2) Parish on Cherry Street
Out of all the Downtown Macon restaurants, this one is our guilty pleasure. Delicious cajun-style cuisine directly beside The Lamar. You could crawl to Parish on Cherry Street, it's that close. Shrimp & Grits, Bayou Burger, Gator Bites, Fried Shrimp, Crab Legs...and the list goes on. This Louisiana treat is a must-stop in Macon. Did me mention remoulade sauce? That's it, we're going for lunch.
1) The Rookery
Looking for the best burger in Macon? The Rookery was voted "Best Burger in Town" by Garden and Gun's "Guide to the South's Best Burgers 2014," and it lives up to its accolades. Order the infamous Allman Burger and a Jimmy Carter milkshake (Banana ice cream, peanut butter, slice of bacon) and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. We tell prospective residents that we picked The Lamar's location because you can see The Rookery from the lobby. Once they visit, they realize what the buzz is all about.
