Why Downtown Macon is Just Right
Authenticity, walkability and real. Those are just a couple reasons that come to mind when we think about why we chose Downtown Macon as our location for The Lamar.
Nowadays, people are moving back into downtown areas because they crave those unique attributes -- They're looking for an experience, not just another room in another apartment complex. They want to live somewhere that feels authentic and has some soul. They want to live in the city limits and feel like they're part of a community. They want to be able to ditch the car on any given day and easily walk or bike to their destination. They want to live somewhere with a tight-knit family feel. Now that's real.
Here are a couple reasons why we love living in Downtown Macon ::
You don't really think about walkability before you move into The Lamar -- A car seems like the obvious choice. But after living at The Lamar for a couple months, you'll realize it's one of the best amenities that we offer. Walk outside The Lamar's front door and Macon's world is your oyster. Restaurants, shops and bars are steps away and most of your errands can be accomplished on foot. Also, it doesn't hurt to ditch the car for a little bit of exercise after eating at Our Favorite Macon Restaurants.
Location, location, location. This plays into #1, but convenience is something you definitely take for granted living at The Lamar in Downtown Macon. The convenience of having everything within walking distance means less stress, less driving, less wasted time (the time you spend traveling, waiting in traffic, etc). Entertainment venues, delicious food, a craft beer superstore, festivals, and so much more just steps from your couch. Convenience is key in finding the best place to live.
#3 on our list, but #1 in our hearts (P.s. Our "Favorite" list is in no particular order). At The Lamar, we pride ourselves on creating a unique tight-knit community feel. That means: A place where you know your neighbors and you actually spend time with them. Our residents enjoy hanging out on the back patio, grilling out and playing games, grabbing a beer at Just Tap'd, or walking across the street to Cox Capitol for a show (one of our favorite venues in Georgia, by the way). That's what living in an apartment community is all about.
Macon, Georgia's got a lot of soul. The town was founded in 1823 and thrived due to its location on the Ocmulgee River, Wesleyan College was the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women, Mercer University continues to rank in the top 10% of colleges and universities in North America, Otis Redding, Little Richard and The Allman Brothers Band use to call it home, festival lovers from around the world visit each March to witness over 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees in full bloom during Cherry Blossom Festival, historians rave about Ocmulgee National Monument's peek into prehistoric American Indian culture, and Downtown Macon's thriving renaissance is changing the way visitors and locals alike live, work, eat and play.
Along with Macon's unique past, The Lamar building has its own unique history and charm. All three buildings were built circe 1870 and are an excellent example of Victorian-style architecture. Exposed brick, high ceilings, large windows, original pine wood hardwood floors and many more features give it its unique charm and "wow factor." Stop by The Lamar anytime and take a tour of our lobbies with historic photography from Macon local Kirk West, and our beautiful 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. The second you walk in the door you'll realize why The Lamar is different and unique.
Those are just a few reasons why we love life at The Lamar. That's what living in Downtown Macon is all about. We're proud to offer that unique experience and the ability to have a living situation that's authentic, walkable and real.
